Global Localisation Manager (Contract)
About Us
Talkoot is the most powerful and complete AI product storytelling platform for ecommerce. Content produced in Talkoot helps generate billions of dollars of revenue for hundreds of the world’s most loved brands, including Burton, Fossil, Ugg, Herschel, Under Armour and more.
We are a hardworking and supportive team that encourages personal ownership, initiative, and professional growth. We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and energetic Localisation Manager to build and scale a localisation function within the Talkoot platform that supports the unique product storytelling needs of global ecommerce brands and retailers.
About the Role
As Talkoot expands its multilingual capabilities, we’re building a world-class localisation function that blends the speed of AI with the accuracy, nuance, and cultural fluency of expert human translators. We’re looking for a Localisation Manager to help scale this capability by recruiting, building, and managing our network of in-market translators, post-editors, and proofreaders.
The role is responsible for designing clear, scalable localisation processes; ensuring high-quality, culturally accurate product content; and acting as the bridge between AI, linguists, and internal teams.
The immediate focus will be on launching and stabilising a few key markets, with the opportunity to support further global expansion based on business needs. This six-month contract has the potential to convert to full-time.
Key Responsibilities
Build and manage a high-performing linguist network
- Recruit, vet, test, and onboard a reliable, scalable network of in-market AI post-editors and proofreaders, including back-up resources to ensure continuity, speed, and quality.
- Support contracting, rates, and working models with external linguists and partners.
- Actively manage performance, availability, motivation, and long-term relationships.
Own localisation creative operations processes
- Implement repeatable processes for onboarding new languages and markets.
- Support the standardisation, documentation, and continuous improvement of localisation workflows in collaboration with the customer-facing team (Account Manager, Project Manager and Customer Success Manager).
Ensure quality, brand fit, and cultural accuracy
- Define and enforce quality standards for AI-generated and human-edited content across priority markets.
- Build and maintain core localisation assets (e.g., language and style guides, terminology, brand voice references, and market-specific guidelines) to support consistent linguistic review.
- Ensure linguists are well matched to brand voice and product category, supported by QA frameworks, content scoring models, and continuous improvement loops.
Lead people with empathy and cultural intelligence
- Proactively manage linguists with a people-first mindset: curiosity, clarity, patience, and transparency.
- Foster trust, engagement, and long-term collaboration across cultures and regions.
- Promote cultural awareness and best practices internally and externally.
Partner cross-functionally
- Work with Product and Engineering to provide linguistically informed guidance on the initial setup and ongoing updates of AI prompts and localisation guidelines, using input from in-market AI post-editors and proofreaders to improve first-pass output quality.
- Establish feedback loops that enable linguists to systematically improve Talkoot’s AI writers.
- Partner with Customer Success to ensure localisation workflows align with customer expectations, timelines, approvals, and quality requirements.
- Advise internal teams on cultural, linguistic, and regulatory considerations across markets.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing localisation programs or teams for global brands, retailers, or agencies.
- Proven experience building and scaling translator and proofreader networks.
- Strong background designing localisation workflows, QA programs, and language asset management.
- Experience working with AI-generated copy and post-editing workflows.
- Deep understanding of cultural nuance, market-specific expectations, and regulatory considerations (EU, APAC, LATAM, or other regions).
- Excellent communicator, able to give and receive detailed feedback in English.
- Experience with product content localisation (e.g., retail, apparel, outdoor, CPG, electronics).
- Multilingual proficiency is a plus but not required.
What success looks like
- A fully operational, well-documented localisation workflow integrated into Talkoot’s AI systems.
- A reliable, motivated, and scalable global network of linguists with clear standards and backup coverage.
- Consistently high-quality, on-brand, culturally fluent, market-ready product content.
- Strong QA systems, language assets, and feedback loops that continuously improve both human output and AI performance.
- Smooth collaboration between localisation, product, engineering, and customer success teams.
